Your journey will showcase Uganda’s diverse offerings, from exhilarating game drives in the savannah jungles of Queen Elizabeth National Park—Uganda’s most popular park, teeming with a variety of wildlife—to tracking the endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Uganda hosts over 50% of the world’s mountain gorilla population, making it a prime destination to encounter these gentle giants.

In addition to gorilla tracking, you’ll explore Kibale National Park, renowned for its high primate density, earning it the title of Primate Capital of the World. Here, you’ll have the chance to track chimpanzees in their natural habitat. For breathtaking landscapes, you’ll visit Lake Mutanda, a pristine freshwater lake offering stunning views.

Day 1: Arrival to Uganda

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your chosen accommodation:

  • Budget Options: J-Residence Motel Entebbe, Airport Link Guest House Entebbe, or Redchilli Hideaway in Kampala.
  • Midrange Options: Kazi Beach Resort, Cassia Lodge in Kampala, or Lake Heights in Entebbe.
  • Luxury Options: Lake Victoria Serena Resort or Protea Hotel Entebbe.

Dinner will be served at your lodge.

Day 2: Kampala – Equator – Igongo Cultural Centre

After enjoying your breakfast, check out of the hotel and begin your journey toward Mbarara town in western Uganda. This will be a relatively long drive, but you’ll have the chance to make a memorable stop at Kayabwe, where you’ll stand at the Equator, the very center of the globe at 0° latitude, straddling both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Take this opportunity to snap some unforgettable photos and explore the nearby craft shops.

Your journey continues as you head to the Igongo Cultural Centre & Country Hotel, where you will check in and enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, you can take some time to rest before embarking on a tour of the Igongo Cultural Centre. Visit Eriijukiro, the museum of Southwestern Uganda, and explore the traditional restaurant where you will have both lunch and dinner. If you’re interested, we can also take a short drive to Mbarara Town to get a feel for the local area. End your day with dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at either Kosiya Hotel & Services Apartments (Budget) or Igongo Country Hotel (Midrange).

Day 3: Transfer to Kisoro – Lake Mutanda

After your morning breakfast, check out of the hotel and embark on a scenic transfer to the stunning Lake Mutanda area in Kisoro district. Upon arrival, you’ll check in to your accommodation, which could be one of the following options: Mutanda Eco Community Centre (Budget), Mutanda Lake Resort (Midrange), or Chameleon Hill Lodge (Higher-end). Once settled in, take some time to relax and enjoy your surroundings.

After lunch, embark on a canoe or boat tour of the picturesque islands on Lake Mutanda, taking in the serene beauty of the lake and its surroundings. As the day winds down, return to your hotel for a delicious dinner and a restful night’s stay. Your meal plan is Full Board.

Please Note: The final decision regarding your accommodation on Days 3 and 4 will be made after securing the Gorilla permits, as the availability of these permits will determine your tracking location, which in turn influences your accommodation and connectivity to the next and previous destinations. Any major changes will be discussed with you beforehand.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park

In the early morning, check out of your hotel and embark on a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where you’ll participate in the unforgettable experience of Gorilla tracking. The adventure begins with a briefing from the Wildlife Ranger Guides, who will lead you and a group of up to 8 people as you search for the habituated family of Mountain Gorillas that has been allocated to your group. Bwindi Forest is home to more than half of the world’s remaining Mountain Gorilla population, making this a truly special opportunity.

Once you locate the gorillas, you’ll have one hour to observe these incredible primates, capturing photographs and witnessing their behaviors up close. Given the nature of the trek, you’ll be provided with a packed lunch and water to carry with you, and porters will be available to assist with carrying your belongings if needed.

After your Gorilla tracking experience, head to your lodge for some well-deserved rest. You will be staying at one of the following accommodations: Wagtail Eco Safari Camp (Budget), Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge (Midrange), or Gorilla Safari Lodge (Higher-end). Enjoy dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at your lodge.

Please Note: The final decision regarding your accommodation on Day 3 will be made after securing the Gorilla permits, as the availability of these permits will determine your tracking location and, consequently, your accommodation and connectivity to other destinations. Any significant changes will be discussed with you in advance.

Day 5: Transfer to Ishasha and Search for Tree climbing Lions

In the morning, check out of your lodge and prepare for a transfer to the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This will be a relatively long journey, but the destination is well worth the drive. Upon arrival in the Ishasha sector, you will check into your lodge, choosing from the following options: @The River Ishasha (Budget), Enjojo Lodge (Midrange), or Ishasha Jungle Lodge (Higher Midrange). Once you’ve checked in, take some time to relax before enjoying lunch at your lodge.

After lunch, set out on an exciting game drive in search of the famous “tree-climbing lions,” which are often seen resting on the branches of fig trees during the hotter parts of the day. Keep an eye out for other wildlife as well, including herds of buffalo, elephants, Topi antelopes, and more. After the game drive, return to your lodge for a relaxing evening with dinner and a Full Board meal plan.

Day 6: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Queen Elizabeth Park

Today, enjoy an early morning breakfast before checking out of your lodge and transferring to the Northern Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here, you’ll embark on a game drive along the park’s tracks, heading towards Lake George and Kasenyi. As you explore, keep an eye out for a variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, and warthogs. The park offers stunning views of crater lakes and the Albertine Rift Valley, creating a unique and picturesque landscape.

In the afternoon, experience an exciting safari by boat from Mweya Peninsula along the Kazinga Channel. This area is renowned for its high concentration of wildlife, diverse birdlife, and excellent photographic opportunities. During the boat cruise, you’ll likely see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, and elephants as they drink from the channel, and you may even witness predator-prey interactions.

After the boat cruise, head to your lodge for a relaxing evening. You’ll be staying at either Simba Safari Camp (Budget), Park View Safari Lodge (Midrange), or Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury). Your meal plan will be Full Board, ensuring a satisfying dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, check out from your lodge and begin the journey to Kibale Forest National Park. The drive will take approximately 3.5 hours, offering you scenic views along the way. Upon arrival, you’ll check in at your accommodation, with options including Rwetera Safari Park (Budget), Kibale Forest Camp (Midrange), or Primate Lodge (Luxury). Once settled in, you can either relax or take a nature walk around the lodge to explore the beautiful surroundings.

In the afternoon, after lunch, you have the option to further unwind or participate in a wetland community tour, which offers insight into the local ecosystem and culture. End your day with dinner and a peaceful overnight stay at your chosen lodge.

Day 8: Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking in the Primate Capital

Start your day with an early morning breakfast before heading to Kibale National Park for an unforgettable chimpanzee tracking experience. Kibale National Park is renowned for its diverse primate population, including baboons and chimpanzees, as well as its rich variety of rainforest birds. During your forest walk, you’ll not only observe primates but also discover different tree species and spot numerous birds, making for a well-rounded nature experience.

After the morning’s activities, enjoy lunch and then check out of your lodge. You’ll then proceed to Kampala or Entebbe by road. Upon arrival, settle in for dinner and an overnight stay at your chosen accommodation: Red Chilli Hideaway or J-Residence Motel Entebbe (Budget), Cassia Lodge (Midrange), or Lake Victoria Serena Resort (Luxury). You may also consider an alternative option as proposed on Day 1.

Day 9: Tour of Kampala

Today, you’ll explore the vibrant city of Kampala, Uganda’s capital. After breakfast, embark on an urban tour that highlights some of the city’s most significant cultural and historical sites. Your first stop will be the Baha’i Temple, the only one of its kind in Africa, offering serene gardens and panoramic views of the city. Next, you’ll visit the Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, a sacred site where the famous Uganda Martyrs were martyred, providing deep historical insights into Uganda’s religious heritage.

In the afternoon, take a break for lunch before heading to the Ndere Centre for an evening of cultural immersion. Here, you’ll experience Uganda’s rich cultural diversity through captivating music and dance performances by the Ndere Troupe. Dinner will also be served at Ndere Centre, allowing you to enjoy a full cultural experience before returning to your lodge.

After the performance, head back to your accommodation for the night. You’ll be staying at either Red Chilli Hideaway or J-Residence Motel Entebbe (Budget), Cassia Lodge (Midrange), or Lake Victoria Serena Resort (Luxury). You may also consider alternative accommodations proposed on Day 1.

Note: Cultural performances at Ndere Centre are staged on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, starting in the evening. Dinner will be at the Ndere Centre before you return to your lodge late in the evening.

Day 9: Departure

On this day, you will prepare for your return flight. After checking out of your hotel, you will be picked up and transferred to the airport in time to catch your return flight. This marks the end of your trip, bringing your Ugandan adventure to a close. Safe travels!
