Day 1: Arrival & Domestic Flight Transfer

You arrive in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your regional Airline (Aerolink) in preparation for flight to Kihihi Airstrip. Please note that the local flight has limited flights and your international flight arrival timing needs to align with the local flight by Aerolink. From Entebbe Airport you fly to South-Western Uganda by Aerolink, landing at Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip (Note that Kisoro flight is more restricted, so Kihihi which has more flight options and closer to More Gorilla tracking sectors, is the preferred option).

You will be picked by our representative from the Airstrip and driven to your accommodation at either:

i) Budget Options: Buhoma Community Rest Camp, Bwindi Forest Lodge or Gorilla Closeup Lodge

ii) Midrange Option: Ichumba Gorilla Lodge or Mutanda Lake Resort or Gorilla Mist Camp
iii) Luxury Option: Silverback Lodge or similar options.

Please Note: The sector where we track Gorillas depends on availability of Gorilla Permits at time of booking, and this also determines the sector of preference for accommodation proximity).

Therefore,

a) If we are to use Kisoro Airstrip and track in Nkuringo, then this evening you can opt for Canoe ride on the beautiful Lake Mutanda or have rest as you enjoy the beautiful views.

b) If we are to use Kihihi Airstrip and track Gorillas from the other sectors, this evening you may have a cultural performance by the Batwa, the Indigenous people from this area who until recent lived together in harmony with the Gorillas in this Park. Or you may rest and enjoy the views.

Day 2: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking + Forest people or rest

Very early in the morning, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for Gorilla tracking. The activity starts with briefing from the Wildlife Ranger Guides and you will follow the ranger guides in a group of maximum 8 people as you search for the habituated family of Mountain Gorillas, which was allocated accordingly.

Bwindi forest in Uganda has more than half the world remaining Mountain Gorilla population but also has more than 100 species of mammals, over 200 species of butterflies and 360 species of birds among others. You have one hour for observing the primates and their behaviors, while taking photographs.

Due to the nature of this activity, we shall ensure that you take packed lunch and water with you in the bag and for this you might need the support of available porters.

Please note that though sometimes the Gorillas tracking may end early enough to allow transfer to the Airstrip, there is no guarantee and therefore risky to schedule the return flight this afternoon, due to the risk of missing the flight. This is why we schedule the return flight the following day.

After tracking, return to the Lodge to rest and in the evening if we could not have the Batwa cultural performance or Lake Mutanda canoeing the previous day, we can have it this evening.

Then retire for dinner and overnight rest at either:

i) Budget Options: Buhoma Community Rest Camp, Bwindi Forest Lodge or Gorilla Closeup Lodge

ii) Midrange Option: Ichumba Gorilla Lodge or Mutanda Lake Resort or Gorilla Mist Camp
iii) Luxury Option: Silverback Lodge or similar options.
